Statement of commitment to accessibility for Ontarians with disabilities act (AODA)

 

Legislation

Through the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) Ontario is working towards making the province accessible for people with disabilities by 2025.

Under the act, Ontario is developing accessibility standards. These are the rules that business and organizations in Ontario will need to follow to break down barriers in important areas of everyday life:

 

Policy

Renaissance Personnel is committed to treating all people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration and equal opportunity. We are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner, and will do so by preventing and removing barriers to accessibility and meeting accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

 

Providing products and service to persons with disabilities

We are committed to excellence in serving all clients including persons with disabilities and we will carry out our functions and responsibilities in the following areas of Communication, Telephone Services, Assistive Devices, and Written Communication.

 

Use of service animals and support persons

We are committed to welcoming persons with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal and/or a support person on the parts of our premises that are open to the public and other third parties. We will also ensure that all those that deal with the public are properly trained in how to interact with people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal or support person.

 

Notice of temporary disruption

We will provide clients with notice if there is a planned or unexpected disruption in the facilities or services usually used by people with disabilities.  This notice will include information about the reason for the disruption, its anticipated duration, and a description of alternate facilities or services, if available.  Where appropriate, this notice will be placed at all public entrances.

 

Training

Renaissance Personnel will provide training to employees on Ontario’s accessibility laws and on the Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities. Training will be provided in a way that best suits the duties of the employees.

Training will be provided on an ongoing basis when changes are made to these policies, practices and procedures.

 

Accessible Emergency Information

Renaissance Personnel is committed to providing the customers and clients with publically available emergency information in an accessible way upon request. We will also provide employees with disabilities with individualized emergency response information when necessary.

 

Information and Communications

Renaissance Personnel is committed to meeting the communication needs of people with disabilities. We will consult with people with disabilities to determine their information and communication needs.

 

Employment

Renaissance Personnel is committed to fair and accessible employment practices. We will notify the public and staff that, when requested, that we accommodate people with disabilities during recruitment and assessment processes.
